Watch Detroit Tigers vs Los Angeles Angels Live Streaming with Other MLB Games on July 17, 2012. While the Detroit Tigers are heating up at home, the Los Angeles Angels are suddenly struggling on the road.

The surging Tigers look to extend their season-best home winning streak to seven games Tuesday night against the Angels.

Quintin Berry had three hits and Brennan Boesch hit a tiebreaking two-run homer to help Detroit (47-43) rally for an 8-6 win over Los Angeles on Monday. The Tigers, who have won eight of nine overall to move within 2 1/2 games of first-place Chicago in the AL Central, trailed 5-2 before scoring six runs in their final four offensive innings.
Detroit has averaged 6.5 runs during its six-game home winning streak. It has not won seven in a row at Comerica Park since a nine-game run June 2-18, 2010.

Boesch has gone 13 for 31 (.419) with two homers and nine RBIs over his last eight games to raise his average from .231 to .249. Berry has five hits in his last two at Comerica and is hitting .338 in 18 home games this year.

"Different people can contribute, one through nine," Boesch said. "I think that's what you need to have success, especially in the American League, with a lot of potent lineups. I think we're definitely one of the teams that runs out a lineup that has a lot of depth, and recently it's showed."

Los Angeles (49-41), meanwhile, has dropped seven of 10 away from home after winning 14 of its previous 15 on the road. Torii Hunter had four hits with three RBIs and Mark Trumbo hit his 25th home run Monday, but the Angels couldn't build on Sunday's 10-8 win at Yankee Stadium.

"We just played a poor baseball game," manager Mike Scioscia said. "We gave a deep team too many extra outs and didn't hold leads."

Albert Pujols had two hits and an RBI, but flied out with a man on base for the final out Monday. He is 7 for 20 with four extra-base hits and five RBIs in his last five games.

Five of Trumbo's nine hits in his last seven contests have left the park, including two in as many games. He's hit .345 (10 for 29) with three home runs and 10 RBIs in eight career games versus Detroit.

Trumbo struck out in his only two plate appearances against scheduled Detroit starter Jacob Turner (0-0, 1.80 ERA), who will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to make his second big league start of the season. Turner, who is 4-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 10 starts for Toledo, allowed a run and walked five in five innings of a 2-1, 10-inning win over St. Louis on June 21.

The right-hander made his major league debut last July 30, when he gave up two runs and struck out six in 5 1/3 innings of a 5-1 loss to the Angels at Comerica Park.

Los Angeles also plans to look to the minors Tuesday, when it is expected to recall Garrett Richards (2-1, 4.21) to start. The right-hander made his most recent major league start July 5, when he was roughed up for seven runs and 10 hits -- three homers -- in 4 1/3 innings of a 9-7 win over Baltimore.

Richards, 0-1 with a 12.46 ERA in his last two starts, is making his first appearance against the Tigers.
Saleh Hossainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06659567685218689766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135773271622253788.post-55391539211702550862012-06-07T12:40:00.000-07:002012-06-07T12:40:18.081-07:00Watch Major League Baseball June 7-14, 2012 Live Streaming Online Broadcast with High Quality Radio Commentary. An offensive surge has propelled the Chicago White Sox to their longest winning streak of the season.

A solid start from Chris Sale helped the club begin its run.
Looking for a sixth consecutive victory, Sale and the White Sox face a stiff challenge Monday in the opener of a three-game road set against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Chicago (26-12) has totaled 52 runs and 64 hits during its five-game winning streak. The White Sox have scored at least 10 runs in three of their last four games, including a 12-6 victory over Cleveland on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. Paul Konerko hit his 400th homer in a White Sox uniform to help them move within one-half game of the Indians for the AL Central lead.
The White Sox have homered in 13 straight games for the first time since 2006, and are batting .309 with 23 home runs during a 9-1 stretch.
"Its a nice roll," Konerko told the team's official website. "We've got to try to roll this out as best we can."
Konerko has been remarkable all season, batting a major league-leading .399 with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs. He's batting .565 (26 for 46) with five homers and 15 RBIs during a 13-game hitting streak that was interrupted when he missed two games after being hit in the face with a pitch against the Cubs on May 18.
"He's figured something out," teammate Gordon Beckham said. "It's fun to run out on the field every day with him, that's for sure."
Konerko is batting .432 with two homers and seven RBIs in his last 10 games versus Tampa Bay.
Sale (5-2. 2.50 ERA) has allowed one run and seven hits while striking out 13 over 12 1/3 innings to win his last two starts. The left-hander gave up two hits in seven innings of a 6-0 victory over Minnesota on Wednesday to begin Chicago's current winning streak.
"Part of pitching is finding a groove and rolling with it," said Sale, who will be making his first start against the Rays. He's made two relief appearances against them, allowing one run in 2 1/3 innings.
Tampa Bay (29-19) has won three of four and moved into a tie with Baltimore atop the AL East after rallying for a 4-3 victory at Boston on Sunday. One day after Jarrod Saltalamacchia's two-run homer in the ninth inning sent the Rays to a 3-2 loss, Sean Rodriguez did the same in the ninth to beat the Red Sox.
Rodriguez and Matt Joyce each had two hits for Tampa Bay. Joyce is 5 for 10 in the his three games after going 1 for 14 over his previous six. He's also batting .471 (8 for 17) in his last five games against the White Sox.
Making his first appearance against Chicago, Matt Moore (1-4, 5.07), is 0-3 with a 6.41 ERA in four starts since beating Seattle on May 1. The left-hander allowed four runs -- two earned -- and walked four in 4 2/3 innings of Tuesday's 8-5 victory over Toronto.
"His stuff was really, really good again," manager Joe Maddon told the Rays' official website. "I just think he started to speed up a little bit after we got the big lead. As opposed to just going out and attacking the strike zone. He will. He will be able to eventually do that.
"But again, I have a lot of patience for young left-handers with that kind of arm."
The Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees have both gone through well-documented offensive funks, but both have heated up just in time for their series in Southern California. Watch Los Angeles Angels vs New York Yankees Live Streaming MLB Radio Broadcast Internet Video Feed HQ Quality May 2012.
The Angels and Yankees each try to extend their longest winning streaks of the season in Monday night's opener.

Los Angeles (24-25) stumbled out of the gate by losing 14 of its first 20 games, dropping two of three at Yankee Stadium in mid-April, but is suddenly starting to look like the division contender most expected. The Angels have won six straight and are one victory away from getting back to .500 for the first time since they were 2-2 on April 9.
"We got off to a rough start but everyone stayed on an even keel," said Mark Trumbo, who homered in Sunday's 4-2 win over Seattle. "We have confidence in what we're doing now. This is the style of play we knew we could do. I don't see any reason why we can't continue."
The offense is steadily improving, averaging 4.3 runs during the winning streak after averaging 3.6 to start the year, and Albert Pujols is starting to look comfortable in his new environment.
Although he had a six-game hitting streak end Sunday, Pujols is still batting .308 with six homers and 14 RBIs in the last 13 contests.
The Yankees' offense is also built to score runs in bunches, though it wasn't doing that a week ago.
New York (26-21) averaged 2.1 runs in going 1-6 from May 15-21, but has averaged 5.6 in winning its five games since.
"You're going to have good stretches, you're going to have bad stretches," Derek Jeter said after Sunday's 2-0 victory in Oakland.
Jeter singled Sunday for his 3,155th career hit, breaking a tie with Hall of Famer George Brett to move into sole possession of 14th place all-time, and is batting .400 during a seven-game hitting streak versus the Angels.
Mark Teixeira heads to Anaheim as one of the Yankees' hottest hitters after finishing the series against the Athletics 8 for 14 with three homers, three doubles and eight RBIs -- raising his batting average 28 points to .254.
"I've been waiting for that hot streak and I found it the last few days," Teixeira said. "Sometimes that's the name of the game, getting hot. As a team we're winning games, which is great."
Teixeira and the rest of the Yankees, however, could have trouble generating much offense Monday against Jered Weaver (6-1, 2.61 ERA).
Weaver gave up a run, three hits and two walks over eight innings in Wednesday's 3-1, 11-inning win over Oakland. Excluding a disastrous outing against Texas on May 13, he has a 1.00 ERA in his other five since April 27.
Weaver, whose turn in the rotation didn't come up in the Angels' trip to the Bronx in April, was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 15 innings in two starts against the Yankees last season.
Teixeira is hitting .188 in 16 at-bats against the right-hander since 2008, while Jeter is 2 for 20.
New York counters with Phil Hughes (4-5, 4.94), who gave up two runs and five hits in six innings in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Kansas City. He improved to 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA over his last four starts after opening 1-4 with a 7.48 ERA.
One of those shaky starts, however, came against Los Angeles -- a team that has historically given the righty problems.
Hughes, who grew up near Anaheim, was knocked around by the Angels on April 14 for six runs and eight hits -- including homers by Howie Kendrick and Chris Iannetta -- in 3 1/3 innings of a 7-1 loss. Kendrick was 3 for 3, while Pujols was 2 for 2 with a double.
In four career starts against Los Angeles, Hughes is 1-2 with an 8.69 ERA and 1.98 WHIP.
Saleh Hossainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06659567685218689766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135773271622253788.post-9698685408105247252011-11-26T10:05:00.000-08:002011-11-26T10:11:24.655-08:00Big Names Rumor MLB Live News Feed with Streaming LinksBig Names Rumor MLB Live News Feed with Streaming Links: The Links in this blog will lead you a new prompt page in which you have to register to WATCH MLB STREAMING LIVE for NEXT SEASON... After dropping the last two games, Milwaukee evened the best-of-seven series by snapping an eight-game road playoff skid with a 4-2 win in Game 4 on Thursday to guarantee the NLCS will return to Miller Park. The Brewers' previous postseason road victory also came in St. Louis in Game 1 of the 1982 World Series.

"It's obviously huge," said star Ryan Braun, who hit the go-ahead single in the fifth inning. "It feels good to know that we are going to get to go back home."

Before Milwaukee can focus on returning home, it will try to win consecutive postseason road games for the first time since taking Games 3 and 4 at Yankee Stadium of the AL divisional series during the strike-shortened 1981 season.

"I still think that we can play good ball on the road," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "Hopefully we'll (go back home) with a lead, but if not, we have got two games there."

After the Brewers and Cardinals split their 18 regular season meetings, it's not surprising they've turned the NLCS into a best-of-three.

"I think it's classic," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said. "It comes down to that day, who makes the pitch."

The Brewers should have plenty of confidence after they rallied from a 2-0 deficit by scoring all their runs from the fourth through sixth innings. Randy Wolf threw seven solid frames while Braun, Nyjer Morgan and Jerry Hairston Jr. each had two hits.

Braun is 7 for 16 with a five RBIs in the series and batting .471 (16 for 34) with nine RBIs in the postseason.

He's hit .280 (7 for 25) with two homers -- including a two-run shot in Game 1 -- versus Garcia (0-2, 7.36 ERA), who has allowed six runs -- two earned -- over 28 innings while going 2-1 in four career home starts versus Milwaukee.

Neither of those earned runs have come over the last 25 innings he's pitched against the Brewers at home. Including his Game 3 loss to Philadelphia in the division series, Garcia is 9-5 with a 2.63 ERA in 16 home starts in 2011. The left-hander is 4-4 with a 4.97 ERA in 18 on the road during the regular season and playoffs.

"Obviously I like pitching at home," Garcia said. "But other than that, to me it's the same. I just try to see it as any other game and then prepare yourself for that specific game."

Garcia, however, allowed six runs and walked three in four innings of a 9-6 loss at Milwaukee in Game 1 on Sunday.

He may need to eat up some innings after Kyle Lohse became the fourth straight Cardinals starter to fail to get past the fifth inning. St. Louis' rotation has a 7.13 ERA in the series, while its relievers have posted a 2.08 ERA over 17 1/3 innings.

Scheduled Brewers starter Zack Greinke (1-0, 8.18) was tagged for six runs in six innings in Game 1 but still earned the victory over Garcia. The right-hander yielded four runs on three homers in five innings of a 9-4 win over Arizona in Game 2 of the division series.

"The first two games I've given up some runs but I've been really happy with how I've pitched," said Greinke, who makes his first postseason road start Friday. "I'm just going to do what I can do."

Overall, Greinke is 12-0 with a 3.65 ERA in 17 starts at home this season, but 5-6 with a 4.70 ERA away from Miller Park.

"Besides (games against) the Yankees (June 28) and Cubs (June 16), I felt like I've pitched just as good everywhere," Greinke said. "Those two games I haven't pitched like I should pitch and it wasn't because of being on the road."

He allowed two runs in seven innings of a 2-0 loss at St. Louis on Sept. 7.

Matt Holliday, 7 for 15 with two homers against Greinke, hit one of two home runs Thursday for St. Louis, which was 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position.

Holliday is 5 for 13 with three RBIs in this series.

Albert Pujols, 8 for 15 in the NLCS, is a lifetime .286 hitter without a homer versus Greinke.
Saleh Hossainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06659567685218689766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135773271622253788.post-85583354943260496212011-08-28T10:39:00.000-07:002011-08-28T10:39:35.655-07:00Is New York Yankees are truly upset at the Baltimore Orioles for the way the scheduling
If the New York Yankees are truly upset at the Baltimore Orioles for the way the scheduling has unfolded for this series, they can treat them as rudely as they did the last time these teams met in a doubleheader.
The night game will be played as part of Sunday's twinbill while the afternoon game has been moved to Sept. 8.

That Sept. 8 game has infuriated the Yankees, whose request to play two games Friday was denied.

"It's silly to me. I don't understand why we didn't play a split doubleheader today," manager Joe Girardi said after the Yankees' 12-5 loss Friday night.

"Someone has to step up. And they did it all over the country. They did it in Philadelphia, they did it in Boston, they did it in Florida. Football games have been moved up, soccer games, golf has been canceled. Why we didn't play a split today, I have no idea."

The Yankees do not have another scheduled day off until Sept. 15.

"Now they want us to give up the only off day that we truly have," Girardi said. "We didn't agree to play September 8. They scheduled it, we didn't agree with it, and I really don't understand it.

"We're going to fight it."

Baltimore player representative Jeremy Guthrie defended the decision.

"It's unfortunate that it's a natural disaster, and we have to be sensitive to the needs of those who are going to be negatively affected by that," Guthrie told the Orioles' official website. "And so, we are just trying to make it work with both sides."

These teams hadn't played a doubleheader since Sept. 26, 2003, before New York swept Baltimore at home July 30. The Yankees scored 25 runs and had 35 hits on a day in which New York's Ivan Nova (13-4, 3.97 ERA) returned to the rotation.

Nova earned his first career victory over the Orioles by allowing two runs over seven innings in a 17-3 win in the nightcap.

The right-hander is scheduled to pitch the opener, and the Yankees have won his last 10 starts. He has won six straight outings to improve to 9-0 with a 3.48 ERA during that stretch.

Nova's last outing may have been his best. He gave up five hits over seven innings last Sunday in a 3-0 win at Minnesota.

The Orioles are scheduled to use left-handers Zach Britton (7-9, 4.54) in the opener and Brian Matusz (1-6, 8.92) in the nightcap.

Britton opposed Nova last month and didn't make it through the first inning, allowing nine runs. The rookie was far more effective in his first start against New York on May 18, when he allowed one unearned run in seven innings in a 4-1, 15-inning home loss.

Matusz is 2/3 with a 2.56 ERA in five career starts against the Yankees. He has posted a 11.72 ERA in losing his last six starts.

Freddy Garcia (10-7, 3.16) is scheduled to come off the 15-day disabled list and start the second game for New York. He hasn't pitched since Aug. 7 due to a lacerated right index finger, and is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two 2011 outings against Baltimore.

"That was definitely a big win to kind of stop things there," left fielder Allen Craig said after going 4 for 5 with his first two-homer game to help the Cardinals avoid a third straight loss.

St. Louis has been unable to keep pace as Milwaukee has reeled off six straight wins and 19 in its last 21.

Before opening a stretch of 16 of 19 at home, the Cardinals look to extend their domination of the Cubs (54-70) in 2011, as they've won seven of nine. St. Louis took two of three at Wrigley Field from May 10-12.

Albert Pujols went 6 for 13 during that series and is batting .486 with five homers, five doubles and 11 RBIs against Chicago this season.

Tied with former Cub Andre Dawson for 38th all-time with 438 homers, Pujols has gone 3 for 11 with a home run and a double off Randy Wells (4-4, 5.90 ERA).

The right-hander gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-4, 12-inning loss in St. Louis on June 4 -- his second start after coming off the disabled list.

In 12 starts since, Wells has lasted more than six innings twice.

"Still not vintage Wells, but he's getting there," manager Mike Quade told the Cubs' official website after he gave up two runs in five-plus innings of an 8-4 road win over Atlanta on Saturday.

Quade would welcome a lengthy outing from Wells after his overworked bullpen logged 21 innings during a just-completed 3-3 trip. Chicago needed 4 1/3 innings from its relievers in the finale, a 4-3 loss to lowly Houston on Wednesday.

The Cubs had won 12 of 15 prior to dropping the last two games against the Astros.

"A sour finish to the road trip," second baseman Darwin Barney told the team's website. "... We didn't take advantage of opportunities."

That's also been the case for Chicago in two matchups with Jaime Garcia (10-6, 3.42) this season. The left-hander gave up two runs in 15 innings and struck out 12 while winning both games.

In his first career start at Wrigley Field, Garcia threw seven innings of one-run ball in a 9-1 victory May 12. However, he has gone 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA in his last four starts after posting a 3-1 mark and a 1.71 ERA in his previous four.

Garcia walked seven in his last two outings.

"(The walks) came back to hurt me," he said after surrendering a season high-tying four in a 6-1 loss to Colorado on Saturday.

Walking Aramis Ramirez might not be a bad idea. The Cubs third baseman has gone 15 for 30 with three homers and seven RBIs in the last seven games, and he's among the major league leaders since June 25 with 18 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Ramirez, though, was hitless in 10 at-bats the last time these clubs met July 29-31 in St. Louis.

Center fielder Marlon Byrd went 5 for 12 during that series and is batting .400 (10 for 25) versus the Cardinals in 2011. He has one hit in seven at-bats off Garcia.

Chicago has won seven of nine at home.

Baltimore has lost 12 series and split one during that stretch, and it missed a chance to cross off a few rarities Tuesday after opening a 10-game road trip with a 6-2 win Monday. But as the Orioles sought their first three-game winning streak since a four-game run June 6-10, they came up short in an 8-4 loss.

"We didn't do much offensively," manager Buck Showalter said.

They'll try again for that elusive series victory Wednesday, when they'll also attempt to capture their first season series from Oakland (54-68) since 1998. The teams have split eight meetings this year.

Baltimore will have to hope Brandon McCarthy (5-6, 3.62 ERA) follows up his latest outing with another similarly poor performance.

The right-hander was 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA in his first five starts following the All-Star break, but he ran into trouble Friday against powerful Texas. McCarthy gave up six runs in the second inning and wound up being charged with seven -- five earned -- in an ugly 9-1 loss.

He may have stayed in longer than the 3 1/3 innings he lasted in an attempt to save the bullpen, but McCarthy exited with a hard liner off his right shin.

"For some reason, I just wasn't sharp," McCarthy, who went through a routine bullpen session Monday without any discomfort. "I couldn't get any finish. Just didn't feel good at all today. Just wasn't right."

McCarthy, who's 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA in three starts versus the AL East this season, is 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA in six games -- four starts -- versus Baltimore, none since 2009.

One Oriole who hasn't fared well against McCarthy is Nick Markakis, who's 1 for 9 with four strikeouts.

Like McCarthy, Alfredo Simon (3-5, 4.35) looked good immediately after the All-Star break, going 2-2 with a 2.81 ERA in his first four starts.

His last two, however, have been a different story. After giving up six runs and 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings in a 7-2 loss to Toronto on Aug. 7, he surrendered 11 hits and four runs over 4 2/3 Friday, leaving without a decision in a 5-4 loss to Detroit.

"My starts can be better than that," the right-hander said. "I know I can do better than that. Sometime I get into trouble in the first and second inning, so I got to face that and just do better."

Simon has posted an 11.57 ERA in three relief appearances versus Oakland. Josh Willingham, who homered for the seventh time since July 29 on Tuesday, is 2 for 2 with a double against Simon.

The Diamondbacks trailed the Astros by two with two outs in the ninth inning Thursday before pinch-hitter Paul Goldschmidt tied the game with a home run to left field. Chris Young followed with a three-run shot in the 10th to lead his team to an 8-5 victory.

"I give these kids a lot of credit for their resiliency," manager Kirk Gibson said. "The important thing is they keep grinding through."

Kennedy (14-3, 3.20 ERA) will try to help his team to a fourth straight win by continuing his stellar run. Since giving up seven runs in a loss at Oakland on July 3, the right-hander is 6-0 with a 2.63 ERA and has struck out 34 batters while walking 10.

Kennedy allowed three runs over seven innings Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers and got some help from Cody Ransom's seventh-inning homer in a 4-3 victory.

"It was just a typical Ian game," Gibson said. "Lots of strikes. Lots of strikes. He just kept his composure."

Another win Friday would make him the first Diamondbacks pitcher to win seven straight starts since Brandon Webb won his team-record 11th in a row in 2008. Randy Johnson had a pair of streaks of eight or more during his first stint with the team.

As he tries to join Roy Halladay as the NL's only 15-game winners, Kennedy would probably prefer a better performance than in his previous outing against the Mets (58-59). However, he would gladly take the same end result.

Kennedy gave up five runs over six innings and walked four at Citi Field on July 30, 2010, but earned the win in a 9-6 victory. He fared better against New York at home earlier that same month, allowing one run and four hits over five innings of a 13-2 rout.

The Diamondbacks swept that three-game series, but were swept in Queens in their most recent matchup with the Mets from April 22-24.

Dillon Gee (10-3, 3.93) won the middle game in that series en route to a 7-0 start to this season, but he's 3-3 with a 5.44 ERA over his last eight outings.

He gave up five runs over five innings Sunday against Atlanta. The Mets rallied to tie the game, keeping Gee at 2-0 in four starts since the All-Star break, but lost 6-5.

"I'm just really disappointed. Obviously, I didn't get the job done," Gee said. "I hate to see (Bobby) Parnell come in and get a loss for a game that I really lost. I never really gave us a chance today."
Gee allowed four runs -- two earned -- and five hits in six innings during his win over the Diamondbacks. He'll try to earn another while keeping the Mets, losers in eight of 11, from dropping two games below .500 for the first time since June 24.
That improvement could start Friday night when the White Sox begin a nine-game homestand with the first of three against the last-place Kansas City Royals, who have a winning record against the playoff hopefuls.
Despite being below .500, the White Sox (58-59) are third in the AL Central, one game behind second-place Cleveland and four in back of Detroit.

"Any other division we're looking at offseason plans like fishing. But in this division were still in the middle of it," said left fielder Juan Pierre, who went 10 for 30 on the trip including a three-hit game Thursday.

The White Sox are the only AL team with a winning road record (34-27) and a losing mark at home (24-32), where they have dropped six in a row. Chicago, which is 1-2 on the South Side against the Royals in 2011, will also host the Indians and West-leading Texas in this homestand.

A big reason for the White Sox's home struggles can be found in the bullpen. Chicago's relievers have a 4.07 ERA and have blown nine of 22 save chances at U.S. Cellular Field compared to a 3.08 ERA on the road, where they have converted 19 of 24 opportunities.

Kansas City (49-69) has a winning record against only five teams this season, including its 5-3 mark versus the White Sox.

The Royals head to Chicago after a four-game sweep by Tampa Bay including Thursday's 4-1 defeat. Manager Ned Yost's team scored only nine runs in the series -- the same total his bullpen allowed in 6 2/3 innings.

"We start to really show some improvement, but you can't get over the hump in winning games," said Yost, whose club's 18-37 road record is better than only Baltimore in the AL.

The Royals could improve that mark this weekend. Melky Cabrera is 13 for 36 and Billy Butler is 10 for 30 in the season series, with each recording a homer and five RBIs. Alex Gordon is 10 for 28, but has also struck out 10 times.

They will face Zach Stewart (1-1, 3.91 ERA) as he makes his second start for the White Sox and his home debut.

The right-hander, acquired last month from Toronto in a trade involving veteran Edwin Jackson, gave up a run and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings Saturday in a 6-1 win over Minnesota. The rookie has never faced the Royals.

Kansas City's Bruce Chen (6-5, 3.43) will make his third start of the season against Chicago. He's allowed one run and four hits in each of his last three appearances versus the White Sox dating back to last season, posting a 1-0 record and a 1.29 ERA in that span.

Pierre is 4 for 13 and A.J. Pierzynski is 8 for 20 with two homers and four RBIs off the left-hander. Alex Rios, who had four multhit games on the road trip, is 4 for 25 with eight strikeouts when facing Chen.

Chen earned his first win in five second-half starts Sunday, beating the Tigers 4-3. He yielded three runs over five innings, striking out five while not walking a batter.
He's in the fifth year of a seven-year, $126 million deal and hasn't been anywhere near worth his estimated $26.1 million 2011 salary with a career-low .208 average, 16 homers and 44 RBIs.

The left fielder returns to Canada mired in a 9-for-64 slump. He went 1 for 13 against the Blue Jays as the Angels took two of three at home April 8-10.

Any lack of production from Wells may not matter Friday since Santana (8-8, 3.21 ERA) has needed minimal support lately. Santana is 5-0 with a 1.57 ERA over his last eight starts, has a 0.79 ERA in winning his past four, and he's struck out 24 over his last three beginning with his no-hitter July 27 at Cleveland.

The right-hander fell two outs shy of a third straight complete game Sunday in a 2-1 home win over Seattle.

"I'm doing the same things I've been doing the whole year," Santana said. "I haven't changed. I had command of every pitch. Everything was working good."

Santana posted a 2.32 ERA in winning all four starts against the Blue Jays the previous two seasons before yielding three runs over eight innings in a 3-2 loss April 8. Major league home run leader Jose Bautista is 3 for 12 with a solo shot against him.

The Angels dropped the final two games of a three-game set against the Yankees, falling 6-5 on Thursday. Maicer Izturis' error with two outs in the seventh inning loaded the bases and led to Robinson Cano's go-ahead grand slam for New York.

"That was certainly out of the blue," manager Mike Scioscia said. "You wouldn't expect that."

Los Angeles is two games behind AL West leader Texas and returns home after this series to begin a four-game set against the Rangers on Monday.

Torii Hunter went 6 for 13 this April against the Blue Jays, who were swept at home in a three-game set by the Angels last season from April 16-18.

Brandon Morrow (8-6, 4.51) will get the ball for Toronto after he gave up six runs -- three earned -- over 7 2/3 innings Saturday in a 6-2 loss at Baltimore. The Orioles are the only team to beat him over his last 10 starts -- he's lost twice to them in that span while going 6-0 with a 2.82 ERA in the other eight outings.

The right-hander has started twice against the Angels in his career, going 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. Morrow has a 5.95 ERA at home this season compared to his 2.97 mark on the road.

Both starters will have something to prove. Sabathia lost for the fourth time to Boston on Saturday, allowing a season-high seven runs over six innings in a 10-4 defeat.

He's 0-4 with a 7.20 ERA against the Red Sox and 16-2 with a 2.11 ERA versus everyone else. Sabathia failed to last at least seven innings for the first time in 11 starts.

"I've faced all of those guys a lot," Sabathia said. "When I'm right, I can beat anybody."

Price hasn't been able to beat anyone of late, going 0-3 with a 4.74 ERA in his last four outings. He's posted that same ERA in his last eight starts while winning one of five decisions.

"It's been frustrating the last month and a half," Price said. "It's going to change. It stinks."

Sabathia is 1-1 with a 1.06 ERA in two starts against the Rays (63-54) this year. Evan Longoria is 8 for 24 with three career homers against him.

Price is 0-1 with a 5.71 ERA in three outings against New York (71-45) in 2011. This is his first start at Yankee Stadium since giving up Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit while not receiving a decision in a 5-4 loss July 9.

Sabathia has posted a 1.40 ERA in winning his last five home starts, striking out 51 and yielding 26 hits over 38 2/3 innings.

New York is 5-4 against Tampa Bay this year, with Brett Gardner hitting .370 in the series and Robinson Cano going 10 for 33 with two homers and six RBIs.

Cano hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to key the Yankees' 6-5 win over Los Angeles on Thursday. Curtis Granderson's two-run shot in the sixth tied the game.

Granderson -- 5 for 24 with nine strikeouts against Price -- homered four times and drove in seven in the three-game series with the Angels. He has career highs of 32 homers and a major league-leading 93 RBIs while also topping baseball with 105 runs.

"He's got a lot of power, that's the bottom line," manager Joe Girardi said. "Some of the fly balls that he hits, they go out and some of the line drives that he hits, they go out."

Longoria has hit safely in eight straight games, with six RBIs over the last three. Tampa Bay capped a four-game sweep of Kansas City with Thursday's 4-1 victory.

The Yankees trail the AL East-leading Red Sox by one game. The Rays play those teams on this six-game trip and are 8 1/2 behind New York for the wild card.

"Playing in our division is always a gas, and going up there to do it makes it even more fun," manager Joe Maddon said. "Another good test for us.
The Yankees seem to be rounding into form as they seek their first seven-game win streak since June 25-July 2. They turned in their highest-scoring effort of the year in Wednesday's 18-7 rout.

Derek Jeter had five hits, Curtis Granderson drove in five runs and Robinson Cano and Eric Chavez each had three hits and four RBIs for the Yankees, who led 13-1 after three innings.

"Guys are having good at-bats, hitting balls hard, finding holes," Jeter said. "It's not too often during a course of a season where it seems like everyone is swinging the bat well at the same time, but it's been the case for us the last few days."
MLB LIVE STREAM
The Yankees have scored at least 17 runs in a game three times in their last 13 contests. Texas, Cleveland and Washington are the only other teams in the majors to reach that total all season -- each scoring at least 17 once.

New York last swept four games in Chicago at Comiskey Park from June 17-20, 1976. The Yankees have won five straight at U.S. Cellular Field.

The reeling White Sox (52-57), meanwhile, have dropped 6 1/2 games behind first-place Detroit in the Central.

"Every game we lose is embarrassing," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I think you get to the point where it's like what's going to happen next."

Paul Konerko appears set to return to the lineup for the first time in this series. Konerko, the team leader with 25 homers and 76 RBIs, has been sidelined by a bruised left calf suffered in Sunday's loss to Boston.

"Hopefully, he's ready tomorrow, but like I say, PK's the type of guy that when he says he's ready to go, he's ready," Guillen told the White Sox's official website. "He's not going to be a hero. Hopefully, he can help us tomorrow."

The White Sox will start Philip Humber (8-7, 3.44 ERA), who is 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA over his last three outings. Pitching for the first time in 13 days, he gave up four runs over 4 2/3 innings in Saturday's 10-2 loss to Boston.

The right-hander is searching for the form he showed in his first career start against the Yankees on April 25 when he yielded one hit in seven innings of a 2-0 road victory.

The Yankees will give Ivan Nova (9-4, 4.01) his second start since he was recalled from the minors Saturday to face Baltimore in the nightcap of a day-night doubleheader. The right-hander allowed two runs over seven innings in a 17-3 win to improve to 5-0 with a 3.26 ERA in his last six starts with New York.

Nova is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two career outings against the White Sox, with Gordon Beckham going 3 for 3 against him.
Saleh Hossainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06659567685218689766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135773271622253788.post-64722485820938282612011-08-04T10:05:00.000-07:002011-08-04T10:05:36.942-07:00Texas Rangers vs Detroit Tigers MLB Live Streaming Online Radio Commentary Tv Coverage Espn 360 Gamecast August 4, 2011
Texas Rangers vs Detroit Tigers MLB Live Streaming Online Radio Commentary Tv Coverage Espn 360 Gamecast August 4, 2011. Alexi Ogando has put together a pair of dominant performances to beat the Detroit Tigers twice this season. The Texas Rangers now need him to end his recent struggles to help them avoid a rare sweep.
Ogando takes the mound Thursday afternoon when the Rangers and Tigers wrap up their season series in Detroit.

With a 5-4 loss Wednesday, Texas (61-50) has dropped three straight and is 1-4 heading into the finale of its road trip.

Another sharp outing from Ogando (10-5, 2.88 ERA) against the Tigers would make that task somewhat easier. No pitcher has beaten the AL Central leaders three times this year, but the All-Star is in position to become the first.

The right-hander gave up two hits over seven innings in a 2-0 win April 11 at Comerica Park. Ogando then allowed a run through 7 2/3 to lift the Rangers to a 7-3 home victory on June 8.

Brennan Boesch, Alex Avila, Jhonny Peralta, Austin Jackson and Magglio Ordonez have combined to go 0 for 23 against Ogando this season. Slugger Miguel Cabrera, though, has gone 4 for 6.

Ogando comes in trying to avoid a season high-tying third straight loss. After giving up three runs to the Blue Jays in a shutout defeat on June 24, Ogando served up a three-run homer to J.P. Arencibia and finished with a career-worst four walks over 5 2/3 innings in Saturday's 3-2 defeat in Toronto.

Ogando was reached for 15 runs while losing three straight starts from June 14-25. He's also dropped three of his last four road starts.

Brad Penny (7-8, 4.89) will make his first start for Detroit since getting into a heated argument with batterymate Victor Martinez during a short outing last Thursday.

The incident came while Penny allowed four runs in the fourth inning of a 12-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. Penny was lifted after surrendering seven runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Afterward, the right-hander wouldn't say much about it other than calling it a discussion about how Martinez was calling signs with a runner on second. The catcher refused comment.

Penny failed to get a decision in the Tigers' 5-4 walkoff win over the Rangers on April 12.

The Tigers (59-51) are going for their first sweep of the Rangers since May 19-21, 2009, at Comerica.

Following Detroit's 6-5 win in Tuesday's opener, Doug Fister snapped a 10-start losing streak in his Tigers debut by limiting Texas to three runs in seven innings Thursday. Combined with Cleveland's loss later that night, Detroit increased its lead over the Indians to four games.

"It's very exciting to be in a pennant race," said Fister, acquired Saturday from Seattle. "We're right in the middle of things."

Ryan Raburn had three hits, including a homer, and Avila went deep for the second straight game for Tigers.

Nelson Cruz and Josh Hamilton each had two hits and Mike Napoli hit a solo homer in the ninth for the Rangers, who have been swept once this season, June 14-16 at Yankee Stadium.
With a 6-2 record, Detroit has already been assured of winning the season series from Texas for the fourth time in five years.
Poor offensive production at home is a major problem for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Facing Brett Cecil may just keep it that way.
WATCH LIVE BASEBALL NOW
The Rays look to solve Cecil and build on one of their best offensive displays of the season at Tropicana Field as they conclude a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday.

Tampa Bay (57-52) is 25-26 at home, hitting .227 while scoring 3.3 runs per game to rank toward the bottom of the majors in both categories.
That was a vast improvement from the three hits in Tuesday's 3-1 loss in the opener of a 10-game homestand.

"We've got to get this one thing turned around and that's to play better offensively here while maintaining the rest of our game," manager Joe Maddon said. "Then we can make some noise."

Partly due to the struggles at Tropicana Field, Tampa Bay is 10 games back of wild card-leading New York.

"Huge mountain," Maddon said. "But I'm not waving any white flags right now."

Offensive production against Cecil (4-4, 4.34 ERA) may be limited again.

The left-hander went 3-0 with a 2.17 ERA in his final four starts of July -- all Blue Jays wins. He defeated Texas in the last two, allowing one run with 13 strikeouts in 16 innings after making a change in his windup.

Cecil allowed one run in seven innings of Friday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

"He's had better energy in the delivery, and he's had better location to his stuff down in the zone," manager John Farrell told the team's official website. "I think he's gained confidence over these past two outings, particularly against the Rangers. He continues to move in the right direction."

He has a 1.17 ERA in three road starts since being recalled from the minors in late June. Cecil is 2-1 with a 3.10 ERA in three starts at Tropicana Field, all of which came last season.

Toronto is also looking to show improvement at the plate. The team has won five of seven despite batting .220.

Jose Bautista's only hit in five at-bats during this series was a solo shot Tuesday, his lone homer in 16 games. He's been limited to a .219 average and four RBIs over his last 11.

Baseball's leader with 32 homers, Bautista has hit two in 26 games at St. Petersburg and is 6 for 30 in his last 10 there.

He's 1 for 13 against Wade Davis, the Rays' scheduled starter.

Davis (8-7, 4.62) is 1-1 with a 7.16 ERA in his last three starts. He was tagged for five runs in six innings Thursday, but Tampa Bay's offense lifted him to a win by providing nine runs of support in a 10-8 victory at Oakland.

"Once you release the ball, there is really nothing you can control," Davis told the team's official website. "Once you can get a handle on that, then I think you're a lot better off that way. When you start stressing out about everything, it's going to affect the way you perform."

He's 2-2 with a 2.80 ERA in five starts versus Toronto, going at least seven innings in four of those meetings.

Ben Zobrist had two hits with a solo homer Tuesday, but he's batting .212 with six homers and 14 RBIs at home. He's been vastly better on the road with a .335 average, nine home runs and 48 RBIs.

Nelson Cruz hit a three-run homer and drove in a career-best eight runs -- the most by a Ranger since Ivan Rodriguez had nine on April 13, 1999 -- to help Texas improve its league-best home record to 32-18. Cruz had one RBI in his previous 11 games.

"We've been waiting for Nelson to get going, and tonight he got going," said manager Ron Washington, whose club had dropped 10 of 13 against the Blue Jays in Arlington. "When Nelson gets going, he can do exactly what he did."

Saturday's scheduled starter Matt Harrison (8-7, 2.91 ERA) would appreciate another big game from the right fielder as he tries to help Texas win nine straight in Arlington for the first time since May 20-June 13, 2005.

The left-hander has posted victories in each of his last two starts and is 5-3 with a 1.94 ERA in his last 10 outings, giving up one run or fewer seven times during this stretch. Harrison threw 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball in Sunday's 3-1 win at Seattle.

"I felt good with my sinker in the bullpen today so I went out and threw a lot of those, even if I got behind in the count," he said. "If it was 2-0, 3-1, I was able to throw that pitch any time I wanted to and keep it down in the zone and make them put it in play."

The Blue Jays put plenty of balls in play against Harrison on April 26 when they tagged him for seven runs -- five in the first inning -- and eight hits in a 10-3 win in Arlington. Harrison lasted three innings.

Toronto (50-50), winner of eight of 10 heading into this series, will give the ball to Carlos Villanueva (5-2, 3.31). The right-hander is likely glad the rotation is back on track after he was reached for five runs and eight hits over six innings of Sunday's 7-2 loss to the New York Yankees. It was Villanueva's first start in 10 days due to the All-Star break.

"... I had a little bit too long of a layoff -- I expected to be a little rusty," he told the Blue Jays' official website.

Villanueva, 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA in 10 starts following 13 appearances out of the bullpen, will make his first start versus Texas after going 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in four relief appearances. He threw 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief in a 7-6 loss in Texas on April 27.

Villanueva may not have to face Adrian Beltre, who strained his left hamstring in the series opener and will have an MRI on Saturday, but Michael Young could be a tough out. He is batting .533 (16 for 30) during the Rangers' home winning streak after going 4 for 4 on Friday.

Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia, who had his third career two-homer game Friday, walked with the bases loaded and singled off Harrison on April 26.
Saleh Hossainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06659567685218689766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135773271622253788.post-60246216529702490472011-07-23T12:06:00.000-07:002011-07-23T12:06:51.093-07:00New York Mets vs Florida Marlinsm Live 23.5.2011
New York Mets vs Florida Marlinsm Live 23.5.2011. With David Wright back in the lineup, the New York Mets hope to make some noise in the final months of the season.

"It's good to play the game and have fun doing it," said Wright, who is hitting a career-low .232. "Hopefully I can come in and provide a boost to the offense."

Though the Mets (50-49) are 12 1/2 games behind first-place Philadelphia in the NL East and 8 1/2 back of wild card-leader Atlanta, they're optimistic they can play well down the stretch with or without star Carlos Beltran, who remains the subject of constant trade rumors. A productive Wright in the lineup could boost their chances for a run at a playoff spot.

"He's a huge part of this team," manager Terry Collins said. "To have him come back and contribute right out of the gate is a huge lift."

While Wright has struggled overall at the plate, the five-time All-Star is batting .458 with five homers and 13 RBIs his last 14 games versus Florida.

Jose Reyes had two hits Friday and remains atop the majors with a .349 batting average. Beltran, who added an RBI, has hit .346 with 18 RBIs his last 20 games.

The Mets have turned things around in Miami, averaging 7.3 runs during a three-game winning streak that followed a stretch where they averaged 4.0 runs while losing nine of 10 there.

New York's Chris Capuano (8-9, 4.16 ERA) takes the mound against the Marlins for the second time this week after he allowed four runs in 7 2/3 innings of a 4-1 loss Monday that dropped his record to 4-3 with a 3.24 ERA in nine starts versus Florida.

In his first start since July 2008, scheduled Marlins' starter Clay Hensley (1-2, 2.70) yielded one hit in five innings to beat Capuano. It was his first action since missing more than a month with a sprained right shoulder.

Hensley, who has made 20 relief appearances in 2011, is 14-15 with a 4.26 ERA in 41 career starts.

"It's definitely a different beast than coming out of the bullpen and I haven't done it in a while," said Hensley, 2-1 with a 4.41 ERA as a starter versus New York. "I kind of settled in and relaxed a little bit more."

The Marlins (47-53) have dropped four straight at home since that victory over the Mets. Florida, which has been outscored 12-1 in the first inning in the first four of this six-game homestand, had won nine of 10 prior to the losing streak.

Emilio Bonifacio extended his career-best hitting streak to 21 games -- the longest active streak in the majors -- Friday. Batting .380 during the streak, Bonifacio has hit .412 (7 for 17) against the Mets this season.

Gavin Floyd yielded just four hits over 7 2/3 innings, and Carlos Quentin provided the offense with a three-run homer to lift Chicago to a 3-0 win Friday. That moved the White Sox within 3 1/2 games of second-place Cleveland, but they remained five behind division-leading Detroit.

"It's very important to stay close to them. If we get too far behind, we're creating a dangerous situation for us," manager Ozzie Guillen said after the White Sox (48-51) opened a six-game stretch against the Indians and Tigers.

Now, Jackson (6-7, 3.97 ERA) looks to continue his mastery of Cleveland, which has come while pitching with Tampa Bay, Detroit and the White Sox.

Starting on Aug. 5, 2008, with the Rays, the right-hander is 8-0 with a 2.73 ERA in nine starts against the Indians (51-47). Four of those victories came pitching for the Tigers.

Facing the Indians in his season debut April 2, Jackson yielded three runs, five hits and struck out seven in seven innings of Chicago's 8-3 victory.

Jackson returns to the mound after tossing his first complete game since no-hitting Tampa Bay nearly 13 months ago while with Arizona. He threw 101 pitches in a nine-hitter as the White Sox beat Detroit 5-0 on July 16.

"When Edwin is around the plate, that's the kind of pitcher you will see," Guillen told the White Sox's official website. "Every time Edwin is erratic and struggles to find the plate, he has a short game."

The White Sox have hit just three homers in seven games since the break -- all by Quentin, who has 20 this year. Paul Konerko leads the club with 22, but has failed to go deep in his last 12 games.

Rookie Lonnie Chisenhall had two hits Friday, but the Indians were blanked for the 10th time.

"I couldn't care less how many times we get shut out, as long as we have more wins than losses," Cleveland manager Manny Acta said. "If I win 100 games, I couldn't care less if the other 62 are shutouts."

Following a successful season debut, David Huff (1-0, 0.00) will make his second start for the Indians.

With Mitch Talbot out due to a back injury, the Indians turned to Huff to open a doubleheader with Minnesota on Monday. The right-hander had lost his final five starts en route to a 2-11 record in 2010.

Huff overcame a heat index of 108 degrees in Minneapolis, and limited the Twins to five hits in seven scoreless innings as Cleveland won 5-2 and eventually swept the twinbill.

"With the conditions the way they were, no one wants to be out there any longer than they have to. So, you just have to go strike one, strike two and make them swing the bat," Huff said after his first win since May 23, 2010.

Though he's posted a career ERA of 8.04 against Chicago, Huff is 2-0 in three games. He hasn't faced the White Sox since 2009, and will make his first start against them in at Progressive Field.

Uggla, however, came up with his first career pinch-hit homer -- a tie-breaking, two-run shot off Nick Masset in the ninth inning in a 6-4 win in Friday's series opener.

"We weren't going to use Dan unless we had to," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "We didn't want him to run the bases. That's the way to do it."

Atlanta (59-41) improved to 3-2 on a seven-game trip with its third straight win over Cincinnati.

Uggla extended his hitting streak to a career-high 13 games, although he is still batting .195 for the year. His .315 average against the Reds (48-51), however, is his best against any NL opponent.

"I could care less what my batting average is at the end of the season," Uggla said. "If I hit under .200, but drive in 80 or 90 runs, I'm fine with that. The first couple months was challenging, but my teammates kept picking me up. I have stayed positive and as long as Fredi keeps putting me out there, I'll do what I can to help this team."

Gonzalez indicated that Uggla and Schafer may both start Saturday.

The Reds, meanwhile, were short-handed as they placed third baseman Scott Rolen on the 15-day disabled list before the game with a strained left shoulder.

In addition, right fielder Jay Bruce was scratched from the original starting lineup after suffering dizzy spells.

"Jay felt terrible," manager Dusty Baker told the Reds' official website. "I had the lineup made out before he came in to apologize for something that's not his fault."

Rookie shortstop Zach Cozart hit his second homer, and is 6 for 13 with four runs scored and three RBIs in three home games.

His effort wasn't enough for Cincinnati, which again failed in a bid to win consecutive games for the first time since a three-game sweep of the Dodgers from June 13-15.

Homer Bailey (4-4, 3.74 ERA) looks for consecutive victories of his own after he allowed one run over 7 1/3 innings in Sunday's 3-1 win over St. Louis. Bailey was 0-4 with a 5.59 ERA over his five previous outings.

The right-hander has never faced the Braves.

Veteran right-hander Derek Lowe (6-7, 4.37) will oppose him. Lowe improved to 3-1 despite a 4.56 ERA over his last four starts by allowing four runs over 6 1/3 innings in Monday's 7-4 win at Colorado.

Lowe is 3-2 with a 4.21 ERA in six career outings against the Reds. He has limited Brandon Phillips to two doubles in 14 at-bats and Joey Votto to two hits in eight.

Phillips is mired in a 1-for-19 slump while Votto is hitless in 10 at-bats.
It's tied for the longest active streak of one team against another with Detroit's run over Minnesota.

Oakland entered Friday with an AL-best 3.15 ERA, but New York cruised to a 17-7 win. After spotting the Athletics a 2-0 lead, the Yankees scored the next 14 runs to build a 12-run cushion after three innings and turn the contest into a rout.

Starter Trevor Cahill was charged with a career-high 10 runs.

"We had some really good at-bats against him," manager Joe Girardi said. "They got the lead and then we put up a big five-spot in that second inning and then just continued to put good at-bats on him."

Mark Teixeira hit a grand slam and Nick Swisher had a three-run drive in a nine-run third inning. Teixeira homered for the first time since June 30 and Swisher hit his first since June 28 and matched a career high with five RBIs.

New York posted its highest run total in the three-year history of the current Yankee Stadium.

Derek Jeter added three RBIs in the No. 2 slot as Brett Gardner went 1 for 5 in his second straight start leading off. Gardner is 16 for 34 with seven runs scored and seven steals since the All-Star break.

"Gardy with the way he's been swinging the bat, we wanted to keep him up top there, and that's what we did," Girardi said.

Oakland put up a fight to pull within 14-7, with Cliff Pennington hitting the club's 54th homer -- the AL's lowest total. That's a far cry from New York's major league-leading 129.

"To our credit, at least we battled back and scored some runs and didn't quit," interim manager Bob Melvin said. "But, yeah, it got out of hand."

The A's fell to 1-10 in the current Yankee Stadium and have dropped 25 of 29 to New York. The remainder of the weekend figures to be difficult due to New York's prowess in day games, although Oakland also plays better with the lights off with a 19-19 mark.

Both teams will start right-handers in A.J. Burnett (8-7, 4.19 ERA) and Rich Harden (1-1, 5.00).

Burnett has been better in day games, going 5-1 with a 3.86 ERA in seven starts. He has posted a 3.15 ERA in winning his last three outings against the A's, yielding two runs over seven innings June 1 in a 4-2 victory.

The Yankees starter has failed to last six innings in his last two outings, going 5 1/3 and yielding four runs while not receiving a decision in Monday's 5-4 victory at Tampa Bay.

Harden gave up three runs over seven innings Saturday in a 4-3, 10-inning win over the Angels. He's 0-3 with a 5.34 ERA in his last six starts against New York.
