Cincinnati, the reigning NL Central champion, is on the verge of starting a season with three consecutive wins for the first time since sweeping the New York Mets to begin 2005.
This time, the Reds have a chance to sweep the Brewers, considered a serious challenger to their division crown.
Cincinnati has won 17 of the last 20 meetings with Milwaukee, including 10 of 11 at home while hitting .307 with 16 homers.
The Reds continued their dominance of the Brewers with Saturday's 4-2 win after scoring four runs in the ninth to rally for a 7-6 victory in the season opener two days prior.
"We'll take every game we can get," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "It's a great start, going 2-0 against a team that you know is going to be there."
Arroyo will try to send the Brewers closer to matching their worst start since losing the first six of 2003. However, he'll be battling an illness as much as Milwaukee.
The right-hander was diagnosed with mononucleosis during spring training, and had his scheduled season debut pushed back a day in order to recuperate. He turned in a solid preseason finale Tuesday, allowing two runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings in a win over Cleveland.
Now, the veteran looks to build on perhaps the best season of his career.
Arroyo went 17-10 with a 3.88 ERA while setting a career high in wins in 2010. He has won at least 15 games each of the last three seasons, totaling 47 to rank only behind San Francisco's Tim Lincecum (49) and Adam Wainwright (50) of St. Louis in the NL during that span.
Arroyo has split eight meetings with Milwaukee at Great American Ball Park, posting a 5.13 ERA.
Drew Stubbs is off to a hot start at the plate for the Reds, going 4 for 8 with three extra-base hits including a home run Thursday. The center fielder was one of the breakout stars for Cincinnati last year, setting career highs with 22 homers and 77 RBIs. However, he's 1 for 7 with four strikeouts against Randy Wolf, the Brewers' scheduled starter.
Wolf will try get Milwaukee its first win of 2011 by re-establishing his success against the Reds. The left-hander is 10-3 with a 3.13 ERA in 20 career starts against them, but much of that success has come at home.
Wolf is 3-2 with a 4.45 ERA in nine games at Cincinnati, but 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in the last four.
He concluded the 2010 season with a 3-2 loss at Great American Ball Park on Oct. 3, allowing three runs and nine hits in seven innings to finish 13-12 with a 4.17 ERA.
Ryan Braun is 3 for 7 with a homer and four runs in this series. The left fielder owns a .321 average with four homers, 12 RBIs and 22 runs his past 21 games at Cincinnati.
Bronson Arroyo will likely play a major role in the fate of those streaks.
