"A strange game," manager Bruce Bochy said. "Jonathan -- he didn't know where the ball was going. He was all over the board."
Sanchez's last five starts against the Mets have resulted in losses for the Giants, while he's 0-1 with a 4.40 ERA as the offense has provided him with eight total runs of support.
New York has dropped five of six and is batting .108 with runners in scoring position the last three games. The club went 1 for 9 in that scenario Wednesday, totaling six hits and striking out 16 times.
"That's exactly why we're sitting where we are," manager Terry Collins said. "With guys in scoring position where we've got to put the ball in play, we've got to go up there, we got to get ready to hit, we can't be late getting our feet down, we've got to get in there being ready to hit, we've got to hunt something and we can't miss it."
