San Francisco Giants Vs St. Louis Cardinals Mlb Live Streaming 5/30. Radio Commentary Online Baseball Major League. Review: The San Francisco Giants are last in the NL in runs and believe they have been facing some tough starters recently.
That appears to be the case again Monday when they take on Kyle McClellan and the St. Louis Cardinals in the opener of a four-game set at Busch Stadium.
"We're banged up, we know it, we're not making excuses. We've got to go out there and play our best ball to beat these teams. We're not doing it," manager Bruce Bochy said. "Offensively, we're not quite clicking."
Numerous hitters are slumping. Aubrey Huff is 5 for 25 in the last six games, Andres Torres is 4 for 20, Cody Ross is 2 for 17 and Miguel Tejada 2 for 18.
The Giants managed six singles in Sunday's 6-0 loss at Milwaukee in which Yovani Gallardo dominated them for eight innings.
"We're seeing some good pitching, we know it and it's tough sledding right now with injuries," Bochy said. "But you've got to keep pressing, that's all you can do."
Bochy started recent callups Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford and Chris Stewart in Sunday's loss, and indicated that two of the three will be in Monday's lineup.
It probably won't get any easier for his club against McClellan (6-1, 3.11 ERA), who is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in four home starts. St. Louis (32-22) improved to 8-1 overall in his starts with a 3-2, 11-inning win at San Diego last Tuesday in which the right-hander gave up two unearned runs over six innings.
McClellan, who hasn't issued a walk in 14 innings, has never started against the Giants. He has pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings of relief against them in six appearances.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner (1-6, 3.79), meanwhile, has already matched his loss total from last season. Bumgarner has been plagued by poor run support with one of the worst averages in the majors at 2.37.
The left-hander yielded three runs over six innings in Wednesday's 7-6, 12-inning loss to Florida. Bumgarner won his lone career start against the Cardinals on Aug. 20 by allowing two runs over seven-plus innings in a 6-3 road victory.
Albert Pujols is seeking to end a 12-game home drought without a homer. His struggles continued on the Cardinals' nine-game trip as he batted .222 with one homer and three RBIs.
The slugger went 0 for 4 in Sunday's 4-3 win at Colorado, but said he felt OK a day after he left early with a shoulder injury. Pujols had a single in 13 at-bats from April 8-10 as St. Louis lost two of three at San Francisco.
The Cardinals have won 10 of 13 after Jon Jay continued his torrid hitting with a two-run homer Sunday. Jay is hitting .397 with 11 RBIs over his last 17 games.
