Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees live stream major league baseball online radio commentary and audio feed espn 360 gamecast webcast review score power ranking all in one. 1:05 PM ET, May 25, 2011 Yankee Stadium, New York, NY: Jo-Jo Reyes is on the verge of matching the major league record for consecutive winless starts. Facing a team whose roster consists of players who have never stepped into the batter's box against him could give the left-hander an edge.
Reyes (0-3, 4.07 ERA) looked like he was about to end a 26-start winless streak after pitching seven shutout innings against Houston on Friday night, but the bullpen allowed five runs over the last two innings of a 5-2 loss.
He is 0-12 with a 6.41 ERA in 30 appearances -- 27 starts -- since beating the Los Angeles Angels on June 13, 2008, while with Atlanta.
Matt Keough holds the major league record, making 28 consecutive winless starts for Oakland from Sept. 6, 1978-Aug. 8, 1979.
"Baseball is a funny game. Stuff is going to happen," Reyes told the Blue Jays' official website after Friday's performance. "I went out there and put up a quality start and gave the team a chance to win. That's all you can do."
Reyes may be able to do the same Wednesday. He has never faced New York (26-21) or any current player on the Yankees, who have had trouble matching up against pitchers they are seeing for the first time.
Phil Humber of the Chicago White Sox allowed one hit over seven innings in a 2-0 win at Yankee Stadium on April 25, and Baltimore's Zach Britton gave up an unearned run over seven in New York's 4-1, 15-inning victory at Camden Yards last Wednesday.
Reyes will also be looking to get Toronto (24-24) back on track after it had its five-game road winning streak snapped with a 5-4 loss Tuesday night.
The Blue Jays led 4-1 in the eighth inning before New York scored twice in the frame and twice in the ninth to come away with its sixth win in eight games.
Curtis Granderson doubled and scored in the eighth, had a tying RBI single in the ninth, and then stole second before Mark Teixeira singled him home with the winning run.
"I think it's a statement of what this team's philosophy is," Granderson told the Yankees' official website. "You just keep battling, knowing that things are going to turn."
Granderson, second in the majors with 16 home runs -- Toronto's Jose Bautista has 19 -- went 4 for 5 and is batting .429 (12 for 28) with three homers, a double, a triple and eight RBIs in seven games against Toronto this season.
Freddy Garcia (2-4, 3.12) will be trying to avoid a third straight loss for the Yankees despite pitching well his last time out. The right-hander allowed two runs and five hits over seven innings of a 2-1 defeat to the Mets on Friday night.
Garcia is 1-4 with a 4.15 ERA in his last five outings after allowing no runs and two hits over six innings in each of his first two starts.
He lost 5-3 to Toronto at Yankee Stadium on April 29, giving up three runs and seven hits while walking five in five innings. Garcia is 6-6 with a 6.06 ERA -- his highest against any AL team -- in 15 starts versus the Blue Jays.
Bautista is 4 for 6 with two homers and three walks against Garcia.
