Watch Washington Nationals vs Milwaukee Brewers live streaming links 8:10 PM ET, May 23, 2011 Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Radio commentary Audio feed and Online baseball review. The Milwaukee Brewers got off to a great start to their homestand, sweeping their last opponent. With the Washington Nationals coming to town, they have good reason to believe that success can continue.
The Brewers look to win their seventh straight at home as they open a three-game series against the Nationals on Monday.
The Brewers had only two hits in their latest victory, including Ryan Braun's two-run triple in the third. He came around to score on a fielding error on the same play.
The triple extended Braun's hitting streak to 12 games.
The Brewers appear to have turned things around after a slow start, winning six in a row at home and 10 of 13 overall.
"I'm just happy with the way we've played for the last couple of weeks. I think we're playing the kind of ball that allows us, in a long season, to get to where we want to be," manager Ron Roenicke said.
Roenicke's club was swept in a three-game series by the Nationals (21-25) on the road from April 15-17. However, Milwaukee has won five straight at home between the two, and Washington comes in having dropped seven of 10 overall.
The Nationals are looking to bounce back after they suffered a 2-1 loss to Baltimore on Sunday. The defeat wasted an outstanding start by Jordan Zimmermann, who allowed just two baserunners through the first six innings before giving up a two-run homer in the seventh.
Washington, which went 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position, has scored four runs in its last four losses. The Nationals opened the series against the Orioles with a 17-5 win Friday.
Adam LaRoche, in a 1-for-29 slump, was out of the lineup Sunday with a sore left shoulder. Although he's 6 for 19 with a double and home run against Yovani Gallardo (5-2, 4.70 ERA), Monday's scheduled pitcher for the Brewers, he's expected to get a second opinion on the shoulder and could sit out.
Gallardo will take the mound looking to record a fourth straight quality start. He surrendered a two-run homer in six innings of a 5-2 victory at San Diego on Wednesday.
The right-hander has won three straight starts, posting a 1.80 ERA while striking out 20.
However, the Nationals roughed up Gallardo at Washington on April 17, allowing seven runs, 10 hits and two homers in 5 1/3 innings of an 8-4 defeat.
Tom Gorzelanny (2-3, 3.56) counters for Washington after struggling his last time out.
Gorzelanny gave up three runs, eight hits and walked a season-high five in 5 2/3 innings of a 3-0 loss to the New York Mets on Wednesday. He did strike out seven, but also threw a season-high 116 pitches.
The left-hander was more effective against Milwaukee on April 15, giving up a two-run homer in six innings of a 4-3 win in 10 innings. Gorzelanny is 2-2 with a 7.11 ERA as a starter at Miller Park, though.
